David Drinkard
An avid outdoors- and sportsman, David Drinkard paints what he knows and experiences. He is best known for his powerful portrayal of marsh and bay, evocative of the mood of the sportsman lying in wait. Working in acrylics and watercolor, Drinkard captures in his art the quiet moments so familiar to America’s sportsmen.
Drinkard earned a Bachelor’s degree from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, completing his formal art training in 1970. His works are very popular among sportsmen, and as such, he frequently sees his paintings reproduced in sporting journals such as Texas Trophy Hunters and Petersen’s Hunting Journal.
Drinkard is also a supporter of conservation groups such as Ducks Unlimited, the Gulf Coast Conservation Association and Quail Unlimited. Sales of his sporting images have generated more than one million dollars for these groups dedicated to the preservation of the sportsman’s way of life.
