Lee Alban
Lee Alban (b. 1948) emerged from the realist traditions established by the Schuler School of Fine Arts in Baltimore, Maryland, studying under the mentorship of Ann Didusch Schuler, assistant to Jacques Maroger. Skilled in every realist genre, from landscape and still life to portraiture and
Trompe l’Oeil, Alban uses traditional techniques to achieve contemporary results.
Lee Alban has drawn on nostalgic themes in recent years to create original series that have included classic diners, steam trains, vintage toys, and landscapes. Filling a collector niche, the recently completed series, “American Heritage,” celebrates the contributions of the western oil industry, uniquely providing fine art to businesses and collectors who have built America.
“Spirits of the American West” combines traditional western landscapes with Trompe l’Oeil realism to create illusions of vintage photographs of Native Americans taped to the surface of paintings. Like no other contemporary works, they evoke a feeling of history and Native American heritage.
Lee Alban lives in Havre de Grace, Maryland and is currently represented by galleries in Carmel, California, Fredericksburg and Fort Worth, Texas, Scottsdale, Arizona, and Annapolis, Maryland.
He is a signature member of the Oil Painters of America, the Allied Artists of America, the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, and the Baltimore Watercolor Society.
