Roberto Ugalde

Robert Ugalde is an expert oil painter who expresses the essence of his subjects in a way that draws viewers into his paintings. He masters the use of oils in an impressionistic manner that breathes life too his lanscapes and figures. He was born in Queretaro, Mexico and has loved to draw and paint since he was a boy. His love for art guided him to study at the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes INBA in Queretaro, Mexico. Upon completion of his studies, he worked as an art illustrator for a calendar company and emigrated to the United States in 1994. He then began showing and selling his work through commissions and galleries throughout the United States and Mexico. Roberto Ugaldeā€™s use of oil in an impressionistic manner is applied mostly with palette knife using brilliant and heavy paint strokes. This new direction allows him to experiment with industrial liquid oil paint by dropping it on a hoizontal board and manipulating the color, mixing them to control the shapes of his subjects. His teqnique enables him to navigate form impressionistic landscapes to abstract landscapes.
