Dianne Flynn
Dianne Flynn was born in 1939 in Huddersfield, England. She attended art schools in Huddersfield and Batley before going on to Manchester School of Art in 1970. She graduated three years later with a Diploma in Art and Design.
In 1974 she obtained an Art Teachers Certificate from Leeds Polytechnic Institute. Following her studies Flynn left for France, living and painting in the Languedoc with fellow artist, Paul Hedley. Settling in London in 1975 she established a studio and divided her time between painting, exhibiting and teaching. Her skills brought her to the attention of George Rowney & Co. who employed her for several years as a demonstrator of oil, watercolour, acrylic and pastel techniques.
In 1976 Dianne Flynn married Paul Hedley and her book, ‘Portrait Drawing Techniques’ was published by Batsford.
Flynn’s work now covers a broad range, but she first achieved success as a portrait painter. Her technique and vibrant compositions invoke a sense of excitement in her work. She now lives in the south of England and has exhibited at The Royal Society of Portrait Painters?, The Royal Overseas League & The Pastel Society andgalleries in the U.K., Holland, France, Germany, Canada and the USA.
