John Bye
People sometimes ask if his beautiful works of art are photographs, but they are
painted by hand with skill, patience, and talent.
As is standard for photorealists, John begins with a reference photo,
and then sketches what he will paint onto his canvas by hand, making changes
as he sees fit from the original photo to achieve the composition he is happy with.
He then paints with acrylics, layer by layer and with great detail to complete his
HD photorealistic paintings give them his unique take on the subject.
It is said that if you were to have several photorealist artists paint the same scene, each painting would be different, as the vision and skill of the artist influence each.
Self-taught, John's talent has not gone unnoticed.
John Geraghty of the Autry wrote that John's cowboy paintings were "exceptional", and he was invited to participate in the Masters of the American West show, in 2016.
John's paintings are in the Booth Western Art Museum and the James Museum of Western and Wildlife Art collections.
John Bye has been featured in Western Art Collector magazine and has been an invited participant in the Settler's West art show. The Greenwich Workshop now publishes his limited editions.
John was included in the 20 Best British Artists in the Daily Mail article after a competition whose judges included UK art critic Brian Sewell. John also won People's Favorite at the UK Wildlife Art Society competition.
