Renee Slaughter Harris
Renee Slaughter Harris was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. She grew up surrounded by art and has been drawing since she can remember. Like her father, the well known W.A. Slaughter, Renee is also a self-taught artist. Capturing the images of wildlife has been her artistic focus.
Having always been interested not only in art, but science, Renee studied nursing while enrolled at Texas Women's University. In 1991, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree and began working as a registered nurse at Baylor University Medical Center.
In 1994, Renee decided to return to her first love, Art. She began nursing part-time in order to devote more time to her painting. ''My love for all animals is great,'' says Renee, ''so naturally my work should follow my passion. If my paintings can help others increase their awareness and appreciation for the magnificent creatures of this world, that is my greatest Reward.''
