R. Morris Patterson

Rick Patterson was born in Temple, Texas in October of 1959. He knew at a young age he wanted to be an artist. In his early years, he began drawing landscapes and animals, among other things that he found interesting. As a teenager, he was heavily artistically influenced by many nationally and locally known artists such as Melvin Warren, C.A. (Cowboy Artists of America), James Boren, C.A., A.D. Greer, Dalhart Windberg, Joe Rader Roberts, Gary Lynn Roberts, and some association with G. Harvey. He studied and learned many of his fine techniques form these well-respected and talented individuals. Rick is an extremely talented artist in many different mediums. He paints in watercolors, oils, pastel, acrylic, pen and ink, and palette. He paints mostly landscapes but is also known for his portraits. Rick enjoys sculpting, creating pottery, and on occasion, tries his hand at being a silversmith. His favorite past time is searching for arrowheads in the Hill Country. His paintings hang in the Texas State Capital. Many prominent Congressmen and Senators, as well as other distinguished Texans, have purchased his artwork. Rick's paintings are a part of many fine art collections throughout the fifty states. At the age of 40, Rick modestly and quietly said he has "lots of improving to do. I have a lot of time ahead of me, God willing and the creeks don't rise."
