Judy Wills

Judy Wills has been painting for over 25 years. Her paintings are shown in multiple galleries and grace the walls of clients both in the United States and abroad. She is known for her classical realism and romantic style. Her paintings are loved for their intensity and richness of color and light which creates a unique mood, drawing the viewer into its intimacy. For Wills, her “still life” painting is full of life and energy rather than still in a static sense. Her own beloved objects express an inner mood. It is her own stillness, rather than that of the objects, which she must find in order to paint. It is the “nectar of stillness,” as she describes it, that she finds inside herself-a sweetness which expresses itself on canvas. A Native American and resident to the land of her ancestors in Oklahoma, Wills also paints still life depictions of sacred objects from her tradition. The same understanding of life energy and the symbolic nature of objects is present in both her paintings from her own heritage and the which came out of the European tradition. She is also known for her paintings of angels which remain her most intriguing challenge--evoking realism in that which is most mysterious.
