Robert Hogan
Robert Hogan has become an artist of recognition. He has the ability to capture action in a way that lets you relive memories over and over again while at the same time enjoying beautiful art that enhances your home or office.
Hogan has a natural talent for sculpting which he discovered in January 1994. While attending an art festival in the fall of 1993, his attention was drawn to an artist sculpting in clay. After observing for some time, Hogan turned to his wife and made the comment, ''Maybe I can do that.'' His intent was to immediately read informative books and take sculpting lessons. However, a very wise elderly gentleman advised Hogan, having never worked with sculpting clay, he did not know the questions so he would not recognize the answers. Hogan took his advice, purchased some sculpting clay and tools then tried his hand. This was the start of a new career and the release of expression that had been bound for 44 years. Says Hogan; ''This is a picture of salvation from God. A gift I did nothing to deserve. All I had to do was accept that which was provided.'' His wife Nora is in full support of this new adventure. ''I never knew I married an artist. It is wonderful hearing his ideas then seeing them come to life.''
Hogan has done numerous commissions including large-scale sculptures of Houston Astros’ All-stars Craig Biggio and Jeff Bagwell at Minute Maid Park as well as a life size “Hand in Hand” at the Cooper Aerobics Center in Dallas. He has recently completed a life-size piece of Pope John Paul II at the new Pope John Paul High School in Plano, and a piece for the Blue Bell Ice Cream Creamery in Brenham, Texas.
